What a waste : Sanskrit came after Devnagari was reformed or "sanskritized" (was too hard for common people). Sanskrit turned into Pali and Prakrit, which is turn turned into Purbo Pali / Purbo Prakrit and Poschim Pali / Poschim Prakrit (covering eastern and western India) which turned into "Bangla", "Hindi", "Maithili", "Gujarati", "Marathi" etc. etc. It's pathetic to see where ill-education is driving some people !

The oldest known record of adi Bangla bhasha was "Charjapad" which was discovered in the kingdom of Nepal palace by Haraprasad Shastri.

"A vast majority of the people of Bangladesh speak Bengali Bangla). Bengali is an Indo-Aryan language and evolved from Sanskrit. The language plays an extremely important role in the hearts and minds of Bangladeshis. The Independence struggle and the subsequent liberation from Pakistani domination draw inspiration from the struggle by Bengalis to prevent Urdu being declared the state language of Pakistan. The struggle for Bengali gave impetus to the nascent Bengali nationalism which saw fruition in the advent of Bangladesh as a free nation after a nine month long War of Independence."

"Bangla's direct ancestor is a form of Magadhi Prakrit or Middle Indo-Aryan which descended from Sanskrit or Old Indo-Aryan. Bangla evolved mainly from Sanskrit. Also Hindi, Urdu, Farsi, English--all contributed lots of words and terms to form this language."

..................The Oldest Records

For old Bangla the only record is Charjapad discovered from a palace in Nepal by Haraprasad Shastri. It is a collection of the oldest verses thought to be the oldest records of Bangla literature. The language of Charjapad is basically vernacular, but at the same time it is also something of a literary language.

..........Nepal rebels set fire to Sanskrit university

........................Reuters News Service

KATHMANDU, Nepal - Some 500 Maoist rebels stormed a Sanskrit university in west Nepal, set the building on fire and destroyed office records, an official said today.

District officer Mathur Prasad Yadav told Reuters that the guerrillas snapped telephone lines and overpowered the night guard of the Mahendra Sanskrit University in Dang in west Nepal late on Saturday before setting the building ablaze.

"No one was injured in the incident," Yadav said, adding that several office rooms had been destroyed.

The rebels, who are fighting to topple the constitutional monarchy in the world's only Hindu kingdom, oppose the teaching in schools of Sanskrit, an ancient Indian language.

Nepal mobilised its troops against the guerrillas last November after the rebels walked out of peace talks and attacked police posts and government installations.

Hundreds of rebels have died in the past two weeks as the army stepped up its offensives.

Over 4,000 people have been killed in the conflict that began six years ago.

Now we know who is the PAYMASTER of these "Maoist" rebels. Would it be Italy & ISLAM? What is the vast "HIJDA HINDU JAGAT" doing- from Fiji to Nepal? There is not a man in sight yet.
