KOCHI: A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Monday gave the custody of Deepa, who was allegedly abducted by Sali, to her parents, Dr P K Mohanlal, retired Director of Ayurveda Education, and Mrs Mohanlal, who have been directed to stay in a hotel or lodge in Ernakulam under police protection, till the court takes a decision on the habeas corpus writ petition relating to the disappearance of the 16-year-old girl, filed by Dr P K Mohanlal.
The bench consisting of Justice S Sankarasubban and Justice A Lekshmikutty has directed to post the case on Tuesday for hearing.
On September 27, the bench had directed that Sali's father Farooq, who resides in Paruthippara Sreenagar Colony, and Hari of Cheruvikkal, Ulloor, be brought to the court on Tuesday in connection with a habeas corpus writ petition.
The girl was brought on Monday by the police and produced before the court. Though the girl's parents were present, both Farooq and Sali were not (Sali was not present because he has been remanded in judicial custody).
The court thanked the Advocate-General for producing the girl who had been missing for the last four months, in four days' time.
Thiruvananthapuram Petta Police had registered a case on a complaint filed by Mohanlal in connection with the disappearance of the girl on May 22
