They also want 27% reservation in the private sector. Now we hear that some states want to have 27% of the temple committee members to be from the scheduled castes. Why not extend this thinking to the political sector? ////////// If reservations are so useful, why not let 27% of the seats in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha be reserved for scheduled castes. Also 27% of the High Court and Supreme Court seats should be reserved for scheduled castes. In addition all government staff in both central and state governments should also be from scheduled castes. To be fair, why not let the Dalits run the government as well? /////////// Many Indians including me feel that there should be no special treatment based on caste, religion or other category. We are all equal in the eyes of God and should also be equal in the eyes of each other. Selection for education or jobs should be based on merit and not based on caste, religion, etc. If scheduled castes need to make progress, build more schools and encourage a culture throughout India that values learning and hard work. To build unity in India, there should not be any quotas based on caste, religion, etc. /////////////// Bharat J. Gajjar Hockessin, Delaware, USA bgajjar@comcast.net 000000000
