Re: I.A.S. OFFICER, APPOINTED AS CAG, THEN HELD UPTO RIDICULE. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ In a message dated 08/11/2012 17:12:51 GMT Standard Time, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\writes:\\\\\\\\\\ \ THE DENIGRATION OF THE CAG WAS STARTED BY KAPIL SIBAL WHO, WHILE DEFENDING RAJA, SAID HE WOULD TEACH THE CAG A LESSON. IN FACT HE WAS GREATLY ANNOYED BY TWO CAG REPORTS AGAINST HIMSELF, ONE CALLING ATTENTION TO HIS UNJUSTIFIED WRITING OFF OF A 50 CRORE PENALTY THAT WAS DUE TO BE PAID BY MUKESH AMBANI AND ANOTHER TO IRREGULARITIES AT THE INDIAN EMBASSY IN WASHINGTON FOR WHICH SIBAL WAS HIMSELF RESPONSIBLE. \\\\\\\\\\\\\IT IS TRUE THAT SIBAL WOULD NEVER HAVE DARED TO DO SO IF HIS ATTACK HAD NOT BEEN PRECEDED BY ANOTHER GREAT IRREGULARITY, THE APPOINTING OF AN IAS OFFICER, INSTEAD OF AN I.A. & I.S. OFFICER, AS THE CAG, WHICH IS AS UNJUSTIFIED AS PLACING AN IAS OFFICER, INSTEAD OF A DOCTOR OF MEDICINE, AT THE HEAD OF A HOSPITAL OR MAKING HIM THE CHIEF ENGINEER OF A RAILWAY SYSTEM, BUT VERY CONVENIENT TO POLITICIANS WHO ARE USED TO KICKING IAS OFFICERS AROUND RIGHT FROM THE THE TIME THEY ARE DISTRICT MAGISTRATES ( I BELIEVE I HAVE ALREADY TOLD YOU THE TRUE STORY OF AN IAS OFFICER WHO CONTINUED TO HOLD, WITHOUT DARING TO PLACE IT ON THE TABLE, THE CONGRESS CAP THAT DR KATJU, HOME MINISTER, HAD CONFIDED IT TO HIM WHILE MAKING HIS SPEECH AT BHU). \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\IT IS TO THE CREDIT OF VONOD RAI THAT, THOUGH AN IAS OFFICER, HE HAS COMPORTED HIMSELF IN THE SPIRIT OF THE AUDIT AND ACCOUNTS SERVICES, i.e. WITHOUT FEAR OR FAVOUR. BUT VINOD RAI, AS CAG, SECOND ONLY TO THE CHIEF JUSTICE OF INDIA, DOES NOT HAVE THE LATTER'S POWER OF PUNISHING FOR CONTEMPT OF COURT. I VERY SERIOUSLY ASK YOU TO CONSIDER THE DANGER INDIA RUNS IF THE NEHRU DYNASTY IS RE-ELECTED IN 2014 AND BEGINS TO APPOINT IAS OFFICERS AS HIGH AND SUPREME COURT JUDGES !!!\ xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx DIGVIJAYA TAKES A DIG AT CAG VINOD RAI FOR HIS 'VALUABLE ADVICE' TO GOVERNMENT\\\\\\\\\\\ IANS | Nov 8, 2012, 06.30PM IST\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ NEW DELHI: Congress leader Digvijaya Singh Thursday took a dig at the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) for his "valuable advice" on providing constitutional backing for the CBI and the CVC but wondered why he was not taking steps to "stop leaks of reports" from his office. \\\\\\\\\\\\\ He was addressing reporters a day after CAG Vinod Rai said the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Central Vigilance Commission should be given constitutional backing to enable them to function independently. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ "The CAG keeps giving the government valuable advice but why he is not doing (POOR ENGLISH,js) anything to stop the leaks of reports," Digvijaya Singh said.\\\\\\\\\\\\\ He added that Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi had been pressing for constitutional status for the Lokpal, "but the BJP is opposed to it".\\\\\\\\\ Digvijay Singh had tweeted a few days ago: "CAG interim report again leaked. Would CAG instead of sermonising every one please look into his Leaky Office." \\\\\\\\\\\\ Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said Rai's remark applied to the CAG himself. \\\\\\\\\\\\\ "If he (Vinod Rai) talks about brazenness in decision-making and it refers to the time period of this particular government, I think it would be worth its while to recall that he (Rai) was part of the same government from 2004 to 2008," Tewari told reporters. \\\\\\\\\\\\ "So, I guess that when he talks about brazenness, that paradigm equally applies across the board to everybody who is part of the government," Tewari added. \\\\\\\\\\\\\ Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said the CAG's suggestions, made at the World Economic Forum Wednesday evening, were important. \\\\\\\\\\\\ "That the CBI and the CVC need to be given constitutional status is an important suggestion, and the nation must debate on it," said Javadekar. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ The government is under attack for alleged corruption in the allocation of 2G spectrum and coal blocks following leakage of the relevant reports of the CAG which said these had led to huge losses to the exchequer. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ================================= 000000000
