THERE ARE MILLIONS OF SUCH PERSONAL ACCOUNTS THAT THE HINDUS UPROOTED FROM PAKISTAN HAVE TO TELL THE WORLD. BUT THIS IS NOT HAPPENING SINCE THE REAL CRIMINALS WERE NONE OTHER THAN JAWAHARLAL NEHRU AND HIS ALL-INDIA CONGRESS PARTY THAT COLLUDED WITH THE ALL-INDIA MUSLIM LEAGUE TO BREAK UP INDIA, MASSACRE OR UPROOT A FEW MILLION HINDUS, AND SHARE THE LOOT.
SUCH PERSONAL RECOLLELCTIONS ARE ONLY TRICKLING THROUGH THE FOG OF PUBLIC AMNESIA AND COWARDICE. WE THANK THE WRITER TO BE FRANK AND BOLD ABOUT THOSE DARK DAYS.

Coming from West Punjab post Partition despite being born in Delhi and having done my 2 years schooling at Lady Irwin and Butler High Court, I never thought otherwise about today's Pakistan.
I would ask my Mother how quite was maintained in West Punjab even when Muslims were in majority where Hindus were derogatorily used to be called KRARS as it used to be BANIAS way back in this Punjab. Today BANIAS are the leading industrialists in India. The British carried on with Maharaja Ranjit Singh dictum and tradition for maintaining peace in his Punjab. Swift action would follow if Hindus including Sikhs were even touched by Muslim majority. Hindus had to give one son to become Sikh. That is we from West Punjab have many Sikhs in our ranks unfortunately today it has become a divide, though our culture remains common and distinct from Jat Sikhs and they avoid inter-marriages.
Men and women folk would take daily bath in the Wells, the men folks had to just turn the back when the women were taking bath-Muslims or Hindus. My Uncles given the chance wanted to breathe their last in Warwal.
In my Mother's Arab type hilly village, there used to be subtle difference of Warwal/ Tehsil Chakwal of Distrct Jehlum [ now Chakwal is itself a new District and the two are the main feeders of Pakistan Army. Incidently as per my Mother Geh village of Dr Man Mohan Singh was hardly 10 miles from our village and when may ham of murder and arson took place there in Feb/Mar 1947, the PMs family being in fruit business had already shifted to Peshawar. My own Mama was hovering outside whole night this Geh village where he had gone to take shelter with his Muslim friends.
A few months back at CSS/RT I do not remember the Speaker who was lamenting that not much literature on Pakistan is available in India. I told him that the British had done a thorough job of it a century earlier. A Census Report of 1893 in more than 14 bound volumes is in custody of National Archives Delhi. I had referred to it on 2 occasions. I just wanted to read about my District Jehlum, Villiage Warwal and my Father's Tehsil Talagang/ Capmpbulpur. The British would levy taxes, and so had thoroughly studied each district, diversity of its people, where they came from 1000-2000 years back, their customs and traditions, how they inter married, a way still prevalent. Strangely it said we Aroras treated our women well and allowed them to marry again if widowed.
Basically Jehlum which has thrown 3 PMs---IK Gujral, Nawaz Sherief and now Man Mohan Singh and then Vice President KK Kant all came from same Jehlum. One hardly finds any Businessman in their Delegations and Pragati Maidan from Jehlum District; it had rural population in these parts in exact numbers in each habitat---
75% Muslims--25% Arbi Muslims, 25% Jat Muslims and 25% other types. Then Hindus 15%--Sikhs and Christians 5% and Muslim SC 5% as MOCHIS, BARBERS, MUSHKIS, etc. Culture of Muslims where my Mother came from was Arabic with many Arabic words in Punjabi. I did not know before partition that Hindus tilled the land. And this killing of an Indian in jail in Pakistan just because he had washed clothes under their water tap puzzles me as our Women folk would not eat any thing touched by even friendly Muslims and who respected the religious customs.
Maharaja Ranjit Singh artificial peace process of the religions that was sustained by British was fragile and enforced by brutal counter official force with collective retribution. Thanks to Muslim League when its goons committed a KATLEY AAM Wave in Feb/March-1947 there which included brutal injuries to my own Father. But our Rulers in India have swept all under carpet as they are doing to ethnic cleansing of Tamils in Sri Lanka and pleading with international community to investigate Lankan war excesses there????
If any body reads this Raj time seminal Census Works, these articles from outside would be not relevant. All these elements were present even then. But things were governed by British and earlier by Maharaja Ranjit Singh with iron hand. Poor governance is not only an issue in India but has become a more serious problem in Pakistan. It is the big Land Lords whose writ runs there. And in area, we come from, honour killing was routine and mothers ensured that the Son took revenge of killing of his Father. My posting was in remote rural Police Station and I used to see it practically every day.
