JHARKHAND POLICE VOW TO STRIKE BACK AT MAOISTS, PAY TRIBUTE TO SLAIN SP AND OTHERS

RANCHI: Jharkhand government has vowed to strike back at the Maoists who killed a SP and five others in an ambush on Tuesday afternoon at Jamia village in Dumka district, 250km from here. The fifth person succumbed to bullet injuries during treatment on late Tuesday night.
Governor Syed Ahmad on Wednesday said that the Maoists' strike against the state would not be tolerated at any cost and the security forces would curb all the attempts of the rebels to challenge the democratic system. The government has sent additional forces to Dumka and Pakur where hundreds of CRPF, Jharkhand Jaguar and district police jawans are combing the jungles in search of the Maoists. The government's security advisor has rushed additional forces to the area.
Advisor to governor Anand Shankar air-dashed to Dumka on Wednesday to take stock of the situation minutes after he paid floral tributes to the slain SP Amrajit Balihar here at JAP 1 ground. "The Maoists do not have any rule of law to follow. But the security forces follow some rules of law and would strike down the rebels at any cost," said Shankar.
The other five police jawans were given a guard of honor at Dumka police headquarters. The dead body of Balihar, who was known for his tough stand against the left wing extremism, was brought to Ranchi late last night.
Terror was visible on the face of almost all SPs posted in various districts which are under the grip of left wing extremism. Even during informal talks with their media friends the SPs looked alert and provided guarded replies even to informal questions.
JMM supremo Shibu Soren termed the incident extremely painful. Chief secretary, home secretary, DGP, all ADGs, paid floral tributes to the slain SP.
